Domestic Violence

Towns-Wilson Lawyers, Burpengary. Initial consultation fee of $165.

Domestic violence extends far beyond physical harm. Emotional abuse, financial control and coercive behaviour are equally recognised and equally serious.

Taking that first step can feel overwhelming, and we understand the courage it takes. We're here to guide and support you through the process: applying for a domestic violence order, opposing an application, or representing you where a breach is alleged. Breaches carry serious consequences, including the real possibility of imprisonment.

How we can help

Protection orders in Queensland are made under the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 in the Magistrates Court. An application can be made by the person seeking protection or by police, and a temporary protection order can be made quickly while the application is dealt with.

We act for aggrieved persons applying for an order and for respondents who want to contest an application or negotiate its conditions. We also represent clients charged with contravening an order, which is a criminal offence.
